Accounts Assistant

Our client is a well-established charitable organisation dedicated to providing vital support services within the local community. With a strong reputation, a committed workforce, and a people-centred culture, they make a meaningful difference to the lives of those they support. Due to ongoing operational needs, they are now seeking an experienced Part-Time Finance Officer to join their finance team, based in Edinburgh.
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional to join a purpose-driven organisation in a varied and rewarding role. Working closely with the Finance Manager, you will support the day-to-day financial operations of the organisation, ensuring accurate processing, reconciliation, reporting, and financial administration.
This is a part-time position working 20 hours per week, offering flexibility across the working week to suit both the successful candidate and the needs of the organisation.

Role Profile
Reporting to the Finance Manager, responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Managing and maintaining the finance mailbox using an effective filing system
- Processing, coding, and filing purchase invoices, credit notes, and staff expenses
- Processing payments and posting journals accurately
- Investigating and resolving payment issues and finance queries
- Preparing and processing supplier payment runs
- Banking cash and cheque receipts
- Completing regular bank reconciliations
- Reconciling company credit card transactions
- Producing month-end reports for internal stakeholders
- Maintaining petty cash records and postings
Person Specification
The successful candidate will possess:
- Demonstrable Accounts Payable experience within a similar finance role
- Intermediate Excel skills
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to coordinate work across multiple systems and processes
- Experience analysing financial data and producing reports
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
