Overview
Reporting to the Stock Accountant, you’ll play a key role in safeguarding stock through strong internal controls while ensuring operational efficiency. You’ll manage month-end and BAU processes, delivering accurate stock valuations and insightful reporting. Working closely with commercial and operational teams across Head Office, Distribution Centres, and Stores, you’ll help embed best practices in stock management. This role also supports group submissions, audits, and forecasting, while driving continuous improvements in systems and processes. Your work will strengthen collaboration and enhance the reputation of the Stock Team across the business.

Key responsibilities
- Ensure strong internal controls are followed to safeguard Stock whilst maintaining operational efficiency.
- Processing of month-end and BAU stock team processes to ensure all accounting entries are complete and accurately reflect the Stock value across the business.
- Interface with the commercial and operational teams, both in Head Office and on-site across the Screwfix DC and Store Network to assist with embedding stock management processes and behaviours.
- Ensure you provide the necessary information to support the Stock Accountant with obtaining a greater understanding of the stock movements.
- Support the Stock Accountant with stock provisioning and other stock adjustments, ensuring accurate calculation and reporting alongside alignment with Kingfisher group accounting policies.
- Support with all Group submissions are delivered accurately and on time with appropriate supporting information and commentary.
- Support the Stock Accountant with the delivery of internal and external audit requirements.
- Continuously update forecasting and budgeting comparatives in BAU and month end processes, providing accurate and timely information to the Stock Accountant.
- Preparing the balance sheet reconciliations each month ensuring this is accurate with adequate commentary.
- Raise any suggested improvements in systems/processes.
- Effectively deliver the Stock Team responsibilities. Ensure company wide collaboration to develop and enhance the Stock Team outputs and reputation both within and outside finance.

Required Skills & Experience
- Prior experience working within a stock environment preferred but not essential.
- Ability to prioritise and maintain work processes and procedures showing effective time management when under pressure.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a team player with drive and self motivation
- Flexible and adaptable with an eye for detail
- Accounting qualification or working towards
- Experience working with Stock reporting preferred
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft applications particularly Excel essential with ability to manage volume data efficiently whilst retaining attention to detail
- Experience of CODA GL and Oracle BI an advantage
