Hays Accountancy & Finance are partnering with a thriving business in Ross-on-Wye, Herefordshire, to recruit a dynamic Accounts Assistant. Whether you're an AAT student, an aspiring finance professional, or an experienced accountant seeking a wider role across diverse financial operations—this is the perfect opportunity.
This full-time, office-based role offers hands-on experience with:
- Supplier invoices & payments processing
- Daily and monthly bank reconciliations
- Journal preparation & posting
- Monthly supplier payment runs
- Credit control and customer refunds/recharge invoices
- VAT return preparation
- Supporting month-end reporting, budgeting, and year-end processes
- Maintaning accurate customer & supplier records
- Managing finance-related inbox enquiries
- Growth through additional projects with real career progression

Key Responsibilities
- Process supplier invoices and payments while ensuring accuracy
- Reconcile daily and monthly bank transactions, credit card statements, and supplier statements
- Assist with credit control, customer refunds, and recharge invoices
- Contribute to VAT returns, month-end reporting, and year-end processes
- Support financial analysis with the Management Accountant and Financial Controller
- Actively develop finance skills while being part of ad-hoc projects
Ideal Candidate
We’re looking for:
- AAT qualification, in progress, or a strong eagerness to start studying
- Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving, and organisational ability
- Strong communication and customer service skills for both internal and external relationships
- Comfort handling priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Basic proficiency or willingness to learn finance systems such as Xero
- Confidence using IT systems and a proactive approach to self-development
- Teamworking spirit with adaptability to evolving business needs
