Assistant Accountant Job Description
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Assistant Accountant. As an Assistant management accountant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our finance department and ensuring the smooth operation of financial processes. This position is based in the United Kingdom and requires a strong understanding of UK accounting principles and regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Process Financial Transactions: Accurately record and maintain financial transactions, including accounts receivable, and general ledger entries, using Sage accounting software.
- Bank Reconciliation: Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial records.
- Invoice Processing: Review, validate, and process invoices, ensuring proper coding, approvals, and documentation.
- Reconciling Booking Income and Raising All Sales Invoices.
- Data Entry and Filing: Accurately input financial data into the accounting system and maintain organized filing systems for physical and electronic records.
- Ad hoc Tasks: Assist the finance team with ad hoc projects, analysis, or tasks as required.

Requirements:
- Experience: Prior experience in an accounts assistant or similar role is desirable. Familiarity with UK accounting practices and regulations is essential.
- Financial Software Proficiency: Proficient in using accounting software and Microsoft Excel for financial data entry, analysis, and reporting.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in numerical data entry, financial analysis, and report preparation.
- Organisational Skills: Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines.
- Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical skills to identify discrepancies, troubleshoot issues, and propose solutions.
- Integrity and Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive financial information with the utmost integrity and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Team Player: Willingness to work collaboratively within a team environment and provide support as needed.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
