Accounts Assistant - Solihull (On-site) - £26,000 + Study support
Housebuilding
A well-established housebuilder in Birmingham is seeking an enthusiastic Accounts Assistant to join its finance function.
This role would suit someone at the early stages of their accounting career who is looking to gain valuable experience in a fast-paced housebuilding or construction environment. The successful applicant will ideally hold an Accounting and Finance degree, have some practical finance experience, and be motivated to begin professional studies towards ACCA or CIMA.

- Processing purchase ledger invoices accurately and efficiently
- Assisting with supplier and subcontractor account queries
- Preparing payment runs and supporting supplier reconciliations
- Helping with bank reconciliations and general ledger work
- Supporting month-end accounts processes
- Maintaining accurate records and updating finance systems
- Providing general administrative support to the finance team as required
Skills and Experience Required:
The successful candidate will ideally bring:
- A degree in Accounting and Finance, or a related subject
- Some previous experience in an accounts or finance-based role
- Exposure to housebuilding, construction, property, or a similar sector would be highly beneficial
- A genuine interest in progressing towards ACCA or CIMA qualification
- Good numerical ability and attention to detail
- Strong organisational skills and a proactive approach
- Working knowledge of Excel and finance systems
