Job Description – Accounts & Finance Assistant

Department: Finance / Accounts

Reports to: Finance Team Manager

Location: Warwick (office-based, with hybrid working available after onboarding)

Contract Type: Permanent - Full-time or Part-time (for the right candidate)

Salary: £25,000–£28,500 per annum (pro rata for part-time), depending on skills and experience.

Purpose of the Role

To provide day-to-day accounts and administrative support to the Finance team, assisting with invoice processing, reconciliations, financial data management and general office administration. The role plays an important part in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end activities and ensuring the smooth running of the finance function.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone starting their career in accounting and finance, or for an individual with some previous accounts or administration experience who is looking to build their skills within a supportive and growing organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accurately input financial data into accounting systems and spreadsheets.
  • Process purchase invoices, ensuring correct coding and authorisation.
  • Prepare supplier payment runs.
  • Assist with bank reconciliations and statement matching.
  • Maintain supplier and customer account records.
  • Support month-end finance processes.
  • Maintain organised digital records and filing systems.
  • Handle queries from suppliers, customers and internal colleagues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Prepare routine reports and spreadsheets as required.
  • Provide general administrative support to the Finance team.
  • Support ad hoc finance projects and continuous process improvements.

Skills, Experience & Attributes

Essential

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Comfortable working with numbers and financial information.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Good communication skills and a positive, professional attitude.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to learn and develop within a finance environment.
  • Ability to handle confidential information appropriately.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in an accounts, finance or administration role.
  • Experience using accounting software (e.g. Sage).
  • Experience using CRM software.
  • An interest in studying towards an AAT qualification.
