Adecco Workington are delighted to be recruiting for an Accounts Assistant on behalf of our well established and highly respected client based in the Carlisle area.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and motivated individual looking to develop their career within a professional and supportive accountancy environment. You will join a friendly team where you will gain exposure to a wide variety of clients and industries while building your technical accounting skills.

The Role

As an Accounts Assistant, you will support the preparation of accounts and financial information for a diverse portfolio of clients. You will work closely with experienced colleagues to ensure work is completed accurately, efficiently and to a high professional standard.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Preparing financial statements for a range of business entities
  • Assisting with corporation tax computations and VAT returns
  • Producing accurate financial records and supporting documentation
  • Managing your own workload to ensure deadlines are achieved
  • Liaising with clients professionally and building strong working relationships
  • Working closely with colleagues across accounts, payroll, tax and VAT teams
  • Supporting client queries and ensuring excellent customer service at all times
  • Maintaining accurate records using a range of accounting software packages including Xero, Sage and QuickBooks
  • Assisting with specialist projects and additional accounting duties as required

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in an accounts, finance or bookkeeping role
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Good communication skills and a professional approach
  • Experience using accounting software would be advantageous
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop
  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Excel
