About Hannaford
Hannaford is looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join our growing team at our St Albans office. This is a full-time, office-based role supporting the day-to-day financial operations of our construction business. We're looking for someone with previous experience in construction accounts who is organised, proactive and enjoys being part of a collaborative team.
You'll play an important role in ensuring our finance function runs smoothly, working closely with the Directors, Commercial Team and Project Managers.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing purchase and sales invoices.
- Managing supplier statements and resolving account queries.
- Preparing supplier payment runs.
- Processing subcontractor payments in line with CIS requirements.
- Managing retentions, applications and payment schedules.
- Administering Reverse Charge VAT correctly across relevant transactions.
- Assisting with credit control and customer account management.
- Bank reconciliations and daily cash postings.
- Assisting with month-end procedures and financial reporting.
- Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the wider finance team.
- General administration duties relating to the finance function.

About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or Finance Assistant role.
- Experience working within the construction industry.
- A good understanding of CIS, Reverse Charge VAT, retentions and construction accounting processes.
- Experience using Sage accounting software.
- Good Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
- Excellent communication skills and a positive, team-focused attitude.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy.
