About Hannaford

Hannaford is looking for an experienced Accounts Assistant to join our growing team at our St Albans office. This is a full-time, office-based role supporting the day-to-day financial operations of our construction business. We're looking for someone with previous experience in construction accounts who is organised, proactive and enjoys being part of a collaborative team.

You'll play an important role in ensuring our finance function runs smoothly, working closely with the Directors, Commercial Team and Project Managers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing purchase and sales invoices.
  • Managing supplier statements and resolving account queries.
  • Preparing supplier payment runs.
  • Processing subcontractor payments in line with CIS requirements.
  • Managing retentions, applications and payment schedules.
  • Administering Reverse Charge VAT correctly across relevant transactions.
  • Assisting with credit control and customer account management.
  • Bank reconciliations and daily cash postings.
  • Assisting with month-end procedures and financial reporting.
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting the wider finance team.
  • General administration duties relating to the finance function.

About You

We're looking for someone who has:

  • Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or Finance Assistant role.
  • Experience working within the construction industry.
  • A good understanding of CIS, Reverse Charge VAT, retentions and construction accounting processes.
  • Experience using Sage accounting software.
  • Good Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive, team-focused attitude.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy.
