As our business continues to grow, we're looking for an Accounts Payable Assistant to join our finance team in London.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous accounts payable experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering accurate financial administration.

THE ROLE

As an Accounts Payable Assistant, you'll play a key role in ensuring supplier invoices, payments, payroll support and financial records are processed accurately and efficiently.

You'll work closely with colleagues across the business to maintain strong financial controls while supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the finance department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Processing supplier invoices and credit notes accurately
  • Matching invoices to purchase orders
  • Preparing supplier payment runs
  • Reconciling supplier statements
  • Maintaining accurate purchase ledger records
  • Resolving invoice and payment queries
  • Monitoring company expenditure
  • Coding invoices correctly within the finance system
  • Supporting payroll administration and expense processing
  • Assisting with VAT returns and HMRC submissions
  • Preparing financial reports and reconciliations
  • Maintaining organised financial records and documentation
  • Liaising professionally with suppliers and internal departments
  • Investigating and resolving outstanding creditor balances
  • Ensuring all financial procedures comply with company policies

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR AND ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
  • Minimum 1 year's Accounts Payable experience
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and Word
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines
  • Professional and positive attitude

  • Sage 50 experience
  • Experience using accounting software
  • Payroll administration experience
  • Knowledge of VAT processes
  • Purchase Ledger experience
