About the Role
The successful applicant will work towards their AAT Level 2 qualification while gaining real-life accountancy experience in a variety of industries, e.g. music, medical professionals and retail. These clients can be based anywhere in the UK or even abroad in some cases. There will certainly be a lot of experiences to draw from.
Wage
- £12,480 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age.
- National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices.
- This pay could increase after probation period subject to capability and negotiation.

Hours
- Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 5.30pm. (Could be flexible with 4 days per week i.e. 30 hours). 30 hours a week

What You'll Do at Work
- Prepare source documents for computer entry by compiling, sorting and organising documents, resolving questionable data, and setting daily priorities
- Maintain accounts systems for multiple companies by inputting sales and purchase ledgers
- Prevent erroneous entries by inputting voids and cancellations
- Update records by entering adjustments
- Complete bank reconciliation and prepare VAT returns
- Prepare management accounting information
- Prepare payroll
- General office duties, including but not limited to answering phone calls, emails, and dealing with visitors

Course contents:
- Record transactional data.
- Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices.
- Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary.
- Plan and review accounting and finance tasks.
- Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications.
- Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks.
- Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data.
Training Schedule
You will be training towards the:
- Level 2 Accounts or Finance Assistant Apprenticeship Standard & AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting, including modules such as:
- Introduction to bookkeeping
- Principles of bookkeeping controls
- Principles of costing
- Business environment
- Functional Skills in maths and English, if required.
More Training Information
The apprentice will attend face-to-face training sessions with an experienced tutor at the FAR Accountancy Training Centre in York (Mill Lane, Askham Bryan, YO23 3NU). Alternatively, the apprentice could adopt an online-live training delivery where training will be delivered via Zoom. The learner will be provided with study materials and guided training by FAR Training. They will be required to undertake exams while working towards the AAT Level 2 Certificate in Accounting qualification and Level 2 apprenticeship.

There will also be an element of self-study assignments to be completed by the learner during their training. Apprentices will receive training and mentoring in the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for their Level 2 apprenticeship, both in the workplace and by the training provider, i.e. FAR Training.

- GCSE in:
- English (grade 4/C)
- Maths (grade 4/C)
Desirable Qualifications
- GCSE in:
- 3 Other subjects (grade 4/C)
- A Level in:
- 3 Subjects (grade E)

Our clients range from small sole traders who need help with their year-end accounts, tax compliance and business strategy, to larger companies that have outsourced their entire finance function to Atrium who provide full time support.
