High-Volume, Hands-On Role
Location: Birmingham Business Park
Full-time, Permanent | £30,000 pa
Renault Retail Group is looking for an experienced, hands-on Accounts Assistant to join our Central Accounts Team.
This is a busy, high-volume operational role suited to someone who enjoys being in the detail, takes ownership of their work, and can keep things moving in a fast-paced environment.
You’ll be part of a small, close-knit team, working across a large, multi-site business with an outsourced accounting function in India. This means you’ll need to be organised, proactive, and confident managing work that spans internal and offshore teams.
This is a DOER role, not a reviewer role.
There is no management layer or progression pathway in the short term.
If you’re looking for immediate promotion or a step into management, this role won’t be the right fit.
However, if you’re someone who takes pride in delivery, thrives on staying busy, and enjoys getting things done properly and efficiently—this could suit you very well.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
- You’ll take ownership of core transactional finance activities, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and continuity across the function.
- Processing and allocating high volumes of daily receipts (cheques, PDQs, BACS)
- Managing payment allocations end-to-end, resolving missing remittance details directly
- Monitoring debtor balances and proactively identifying and addressing overdue items
- Completing bank and nominal reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies
- Processing purchase invoices and credit notes using systems such as CDK / Kerridge / Keyloop Drive
- Supporting month-end deadlines, ensuring all transaction data is accurate and complete
- Liaising with internal stakeholders and the outsourced finance team in India to ensure smooth workflow and issue resolution
- Maintaining accurate records and handling general administrative finance tasks

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
