Accounts Assistant

Watford – Office based
£33,000 - £35,000 per annum
Immediate Start Available

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Accounts Assistant to join a growing and fast-paced finance team based in Watford. This role offers exposure across a broad range of finance activities and would suit someone studying towards AAT, ACCA or CIMA who is looking to further develop their accounting career.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with weekly cash flow reporting and payment runs
  • Monitor and manage the finance inbox
  • Post sales invoices, purchase invoices and credit notes onto Sage
  • Support monthly and quarterly close processes
  • Ensure invoices and supporting documentation are authorised in line with company procedures
  • Check bank statements and maintain cashbooks across multiple currencies, including e-commerce sales
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Complete VAT reconciliations
  • Prepare and maintain monthly Excel reports and schedules
  • Support monthly cash flow forecasting
  • Assist with annual budgeting activities
  • Provide support to the Financial Controller
  • Assist with ad hoc finance and administrative tasks as required

About You

  • Studying towards AAT, ACCA or CIMA
  • Minimum 2 years' finance experience within industry or an accountancy practice
  • Good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Positive attitude with strong work ethic and enthusiasm
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to support the wider finance team
