Role Description

The Accounts Assistant / Finance Assistant is responsible for supporting daily accounting and financial operations to ensure accurate financial records, efficient transaction processing, and compliance with organizational policies. This role works closely with the finance team and cross-functional departments to maintain financial documentation, assist with reporting activities, and support the organization's financial management processes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
  • Preparing invoices
  • Reconciling bank statements
  • Maintaining financial records
  • Verifying the accuracy of financial data

The Accounts Assistant / Finance Assistant supports month-end and year-end closing activities by:

  • Organizing financial documentation
  • Preparing journal entries
  • Reconciling accounts
  • Assisting with financial reporting

The role involves:

  • Monitoring outstanding balances
  • Maintaining vendor and customer records
  • Processing employee expense claims
  • Ensuring financial transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner

The position also supports:

  • Budgeting activities
  • Expense tracking
  • Cash flow monitoring
  • Financial data analysis by preparing reports and assisting with routine accounting procedures

The Accounts Assistant / Finance Assistant collaborates with internal stakeholders to:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and bookkeeping practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Familiarity with accounting software, enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, or financial management systems.
  • Knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliation, general ledger, and journal entry processes.
  • Understanding of financial statements, budgeting, and basic financial analysis.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain accurate financial records while handling confidential financial information responsibly.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and identify discrepancies for timely resolution.
  • Familiarity with financial controls, audit support processes, and regulatory compliance principles.
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and contribute effectively within a collaborative team.
  • Commitment to accuracy, integrity, accountability, and continuous process improvement.
  • Willingness to learn new accounting technologies, financial systems, and industry best practices.
