Are you an organised and detail-focused Accounts Assistant looking to join a growing business where your contribution will genuinely make a difference?

Chalk Hill Group are supporting an expanding SME based in Winchester, seeking an Accounts Assistant to join their finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with transactional finance experience who enjoys working in a hands-on role and wants to be part of a business where accuracy, teamwork and continuous improvement are valued.

Working closely with the wider finance team, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day financial operations, maintaining accurate records and supporting the business as it continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing supplier invoices and maintaining accurate purchase ledger records
  • Reconciling supplier statements and resolving invoice and payment queries
  • Preparing and assisting with supplier payment runs
  • Processing employee expense claims and ensuring correct coding and VAT treatment
  • Managing corporate card transactions and reconciliations
  • Posting and allocating cash receipts and payments
  • Assisting with bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate financial records
  • Supporting month-end activities and finance administration tasks
  • Assisting with payroll administration where required
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes and strengthen financial controls

What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar finance position
  • A good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and core finance processes
  • Experience with purchase ledger, reconciliations, banking and VAT
  • Strong IT skills, including accounting software such as Sage and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Good communication skills and a collaborative approach to work
  • AAT qualification, or currently studying towards AAT, would be advantageous
