Accounts Assistant

Winchester, SO21 2DY (rural location)

Part-Time, permanent (2 days per week)

Salary: £10,800-£12,800

Our client, Roost Heating, is a fast-growing plumbing and heating company covering Winchester, Eastleigh, Romsey and the surrounding areas. Known for delivering reliable service and building strong customer relationships, the business continues to grow through reputation and customer trust.

They are now seeking an experienced Accounts Assistant to support the day-to-day finance function whilst also providing occasional customer service support during busy periods.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and proactive individual looking for a flexible part-time role within a supportive and growing business.

It is also possible to split the two days over multiple days to facilitate other responsibilities.

  • Raising and processing customer invoices
  • Reconciling customer payments and bank transactions
  • Processing supplier invoices and maintaining accurate records
  • Managing direct debits for care plan customers
  • Carrying out credit control and chasing overdue payments
  • Supporting CIS administration and related reporting
  • Assisting external accountants with finance information and reporting requirements
  • Supporting the implementation of purchase ordering processes and controls
  • Maintaining accurate records within Xero and other business systems
  • Providing occasional customer service support during busy periods
  • Answering customer calls and emails where required
  • Supporting the wider team with administration duties as needed

Accounts Assistant, the person:

  • Previous experience in an accounts or finance role is essential
  • Working knowledge of Xero would be highly advantageous
  • Experience of invoicing, reconciliations and credit control
  • Understanding of CIS processes would be beneficial
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Confident using Microsoft Office and finance systems
  • Professional and friendly telephone manner
  • Able to work independently and prioritise workload effectively
  • Positive, flexible and willing to support the wider business when required
