Accounts Assistant Manager – East Sussex Accountancy Firm
About the Role Our client, a fast-growing accountancy firm with multiple offices across Sussex and Surrey, is seeking an Accounts Assistant Manager to join their team. They provide services to thousands of businesses and individuals, supporting everything from bookkeeping to tax returns and financial management.
Responsibilities
- Managing appointments, client records, and administrative tasks including bookkeeping
- Ensuring smooth client interactions through clear communication and query resolution
- Conducting basic financial management, including:
- Managing invoices
- Tracking expenses
- Preparing reports and accounts
- Collecting, organising, and analysing practice data for reporting and business insights
- Assisting with accounts preparation and tax returns for:
- Sole traders
- Small businesses
- Limited companies

Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- ICAEW, ACCA, or AAT qualified (AAT Level 3+ or equivalent)
- Charter certification preferred
- At least 5 years of accounting experience, with 3 years’ practical experience in an accountancy practice
- Strong knowledge of:
- Small and medium-sized business financials
Technical Skills
- Proficient in:
- Microsoft Office Suite (essential)
- Microsoft Excel (advanced formulas, data analysis)
- Email, internet navigation, and basic data entry
- QuickBooks and Xero (experience required)
- IRIS accounting software (advantageous)
