Role Description

This role offers extensive exposure to client management, staff development, and business advisory work, providing a clear path for further progression within a successful accountancy practice.

Client Details

Our client is a well-established and highly regarded accountancy practice providing accounting, business advisory, and compliance services to a broad portfolio of owner-managed businesses, partnerships, and private clients.

With continued growth across its Accounting Services function, the firm is looking to strengthen its leadership team with an ambitious and technically strong individual who is keen to develop their management capabilities. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership, contribute to departmental growth, and gain valuable experience in both operational and strategic aspects of practice management.

Description

  • Manage a varied portfolio of limited companies, sole traders, and partnerships.
  • Prepare and review statutory accounts in accordance with UK GAAP, FRS 102, and FRS 105.
  • Review bookkeeping and management accounts prepared by junior team members.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, developing and maintaining strong working relationships.
  • Provide business advisory support and identify opportunities to add value to clients.
  • Review VAT returns and support corporation tax compliance processes.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop Junior Accountants, Apprentices, and other members of the team.
  • Ensure assignments are completed in line with agreed budgets, deadlines, and quality standards.
  • Work closely with senior management and Partners on workflow planning, resource allocation, and departmental development.
  • Contribute to process improvements and help maintain high technical standards across the team.
  • Assist with special projects, regulatory reporting, and other practice initiatives as required.

Profile

  • ACA or ACCA qualified.
  • Minimum of 5 to 8 years' experience within an accountancy practice environment.
  • Previous experience operating at Senior Accountant level or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable experience managing a client portfolio.
  • Strong technical knowledge of UK accounting standards.
  • Experience reviewing technical work and supporting the development of junior colleagues.
  • Excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Commercially aware with the ability to identify opportunities to support clients.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills.
