Make Your Mark as Accounts Assistant at Boskalis

The Accounts Assistant supports the maintenance of accurate financial records, transactions, and reports for companies within the UK Group. Key responsibilities include accounts receivable, accounts payable, invoicing, and general bookkeeping, ensuring financial records are precise, up-to-date, and compliant with regulatory requirements.

Main Tasks

  • Oversee cashbook preparations and cashbook posting
  • Process and post petty cash and vessel cash returns
  • Administration of prepaid expense cards (issuing new cards, managing top-ups, and posting expense returns)
  • Reconcile cash advance ledger accounts
  • Maintain the sales ledger and prepare debtors reports for chasing overdue invoices
  • Support with sales and purchase ledger tasks as required
  • Prepare and process intercompany recharges
  • Conduct balance sheet reconciliations (intercompany recharges, prepayments, creditors, bank, and cash)
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and oversee depreciation posting
  • Provide ad hoc support to the Finance Manager and Project Controllers where required
  • Perform other accounting and administrative tasks as needed

Required Knowledge & Experience

  • Minimum 2+ years’ experience in a finance or accounting environment
  • AAT qualification or equivalent (desirable)
  • Strong understanding of general accounting principles and procedures
  • Experience with cashbook postings, expense processing, and bank/ledger reconciliations
  • Basic knowledge of purchase ledger-related taxes (VAT, CIS)
  • Proficiency in Excel and accounting/ERP systems
  • High level of accuracy in data entry and management
  • Confident communication with colleagues across multiple locations

Extra Information

📍 Location: Fareham, Hampshire (Westminster House, predominantly-based; hybrid option available)

🕒 Hours: Full-time (37.5 hrs/week)

🕰 Duration: This is a one-year fixed-term position
