About the Role
The Accounts Assistant will support the Assistant Financial Controller in handling day-to-day accounting tasks, including cash management, revenue recording, cost monitoring, and month-end accounting processes. This position offers a great opportunity to develop a broad range of accounting skills while contributing to the efficiency of the company’s financial operations.
Responsibilities
Cash & Bank
- Prepare payments (electronic/cheque) for approval, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Input monthly cashbook details.
- Conduct bank reconciliations using online banking systems and investigate discrepancies.
General Accounting
- Prepare journals, accruals, and prepayments within month-end deadlines.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.
- Generate monthly finance reports.
- Perform monthly cost and revenue variance analysis.
- Liaise with internal teams to monitor costs and ensure financial accuracy.
- Address finance-related queries from internal departments.
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing requested documentation.
- Provide holiday cover for other Accounts Assistants.
- Support revenue record accuracy and reporting.
- Help with invoice raising, claims submission, and cash allocation.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Carry out general finance administration and ad hoc tasks as required.

Essential Criteria
- Previous experience in an accounts or finance administration role.
- Knowledge of double-entry bookkeeping and adherence to month-end deadlines.
- Basic accounting qualification such as AAT or equivalent.
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., Oracle/SAP – desirable).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
- Flexibility in managing working hours.

Hours & Workplace
- 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
- 3 days in-office, 2 days working from home.
