Company & Role Overview

Our client is a fast-growing specialist recruitment group operating across Technology and Energy. They work with high-quality clients and contractors across the UK and are known for their professional, people-first approach.

As the business continues to grow, they are looking to recruit an Accounts Assistant to join their team. They are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to support our Financial Controller across all aspects of the finance function. This is a varied role that offers exposure to the full accounting cycle through to Trial Balance, while providing valuable support with management accounting, monthly reporting, and continuous process improvement.

The successful candidate will be someone who enjoys taking ownership, is keen to develop their finance career, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment. This is an Office-based role in Bromley BR1

  • Process purchase ledger and sales ledger transactions.
  • Perform bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Manage supplier payments and customer receipts.
  • Prepare journals, accruals, and prepayments.
  • Assist with month-end close activities through to Trial Balance.
  • Support the Financial Controller with the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reporting.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis as required.
  • Support the contractor payroll process and provide payroll cover during periods of absence.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, controls, and efficiencies.
  • Provide general finance and administrative support to the wider business.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or Assistant Accountant role.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles up to Trial Balance.
  • Experience of month-end processes and reconciliations.
  • Payroll experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience using accounting software.
  • Studying AAT, ACCA, or CIMA (or qualified by experience) would be desirable.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Positive, adaptable, and keen to contribute to process improvements.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively across the business.
