Our client, an accountancy practice in Bexhill, is seeking an Accounts Assistant to join their office on a part-time basis.

Duties & Responsibilities
Prepare service charge accounts - collate records from managing agents and self-managed blocks, ensuring all expenditure is correctly allocated to the appropriate schedule or cost category. Review junior/trainee work - check accuracy of accounts prepared by trainees before issuing drafts to clients for approval and adjustment requests. Produce dormant company accounts - prepare and submit dormant company accounts using IRIS software, ensuring compliance and timely filing. Prepare draft accounts - compile complete draft sets of service charge accounts in Excel, ready for client review. Verify invoices - check that all invoices relate to the correct client, are addressed properly, and are suitable for inclusion in the accounts. Manage high-volume workload - support a range of service charge jobs and accounting jobs, including company accounts and trust tax work. Prepare trust tax returns - identify blocks requiring trust tax returns and prepare the relevant trust tax accounts. Support client communication - gradually take on direct client liaison as experience grows, ensuring clear communication and professional service delivery. Assist with portfolio management - support the manager with their growing portfolio and help manage increasing client demand. Support workflow improvements - contribute to efficient working practices as the team grows and wins additional clients.

Requirements
Confident user of Microsoft Excel is a must. Three plus years’ of experience in accountancy and basic bookkeeping knowledge. Good attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage own workload and meet deadlines. Good written and verbal communication skills. Minimum 5 GCSES A-C grade, including Maths and English. Reliable, organised, and punctual. Professional manner and strong work ethic. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Positive attitude and willingness to take instruction. Experience on IRIS is desirable. AAT qualified is desirable. Experience with service charge accounts is desirable but specific training will be provided.
