Manchester - Competitive Salary + Excellent Benefits
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Manager to join a leading UK accountancy practice and play a pivotal role in establishing and growing its Accounts & Business Advisory Services offering in Manchester.
This is far more than a portfolio management role. You'll have the opportunity to shape a growing service line, develop a high-performing team and work closely with senior leadership to drive the firm's presence across the Manchester market. If you're commercially minded, enjoy developing client relationships and are looking for a position where you can genuinely influence the direction of a business, this could be the perfect next step.
The Opportunity
Working alongside Partners and Directors, you'll lead the development of the Manchester ABAS function, taking ownership of business development, client service delivery and team growth. You'll be responsible for building long-term relationships with owner-managed businesses, delivering high-quality advisory and compliance services, and helping establish the office as a key regional hub.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
