Our client, an independent accountancy practice, is seeking an Accounts Manager to join their friendly team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work for an established practice with a good reputation for high-quality personal service. They are able to accommodate candidates who are seeking full-time or part-time work opportunities, but candidates must have previous practice experience completing both management and year-end accounts.

The ideal individual will have strong interpersonal skills, an outgoing personality and will work well in a small, friendly team environment.

  • Salary up to £45,000 depending on experience and qualifications
  • Full-time or part-time (4 days per week) considered
  • Study support available for the right candidate
  • 23 days annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing to 25 days after 2 years' service
  • Statutory pension scheme, enhanced after 2 years' service with employer contributions up to 10%
  • Annual salary review (March)
  • For full-time working (37.5 hours) 1 day WFH per week plus potential for one short day

Duties and responsibilities – tasks may include the following depending on skill set and experience:

  • Prepare monthly/quarterly management accounts for a portfolio of clients
  • Complete budgeting, forecasting, and cash-flow modelling as required
  • Review client bookkeeping and ensure accuracy of ledgers and reconciliations
  • Year-end limited company accounts preparation including corporation tax
  • Sole trader accounts for personal tax purposes
  • Lead on MTD
  • Prepare VAT returns and ensure compliance with HMRC requirements
  • CIS returns
  • Support clients with accounting system implementation and process improvements

Required skills and experience:

  • ACCA / ACA qualified / part-qualified
  • Previous experience in practice in a similar role
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (formulas, VLOOKUP)
  • Experience with accounting software - Xero and QuickBooks, IRIS
  • Good working knowledge of accounting procedures
  • Extremely organised and self-motivated, with strong interpersonal skills, able to work in a small team and supervise others
  • Contribute to practice training and guide others
