Role: Accounts Payable Assistant

Location: Remote / Work from Home Start Date: September

Join one of the fastest-growing FinTech firms in Europe. We are looking for an analytical self-starter with experience as an Accounts Payable Assistant. If you’re keen to learn about delivering a market-leading Client Lifecycle Management solution to the wealth management industry, apply now!

This role is maternity cover and will give you the opportunity to grow within the finance function as the Group expands.


Main Responsibilities

Purchase Ledger & Payment Runs

  • Manage the purchase ledger, inputting invoices and expenses into Xero, and planning payments based on due dates.
  • Prepare weekly payment runs in different currencies (£, €, $) and across multiple banks, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Monitor bank and credit card balances, reporting discrepancies, and organising transfers as required.
  • Update manual bank feeds when needed.
  • Create new beneficiary templates in the online banking portal and request approval.

Vendor Onboarding

  • Liaise with the Procurement Team to flag new vendors that have not been onboarded.
  • Confirm bank details of new vendors where required.
  • Consider payment limits for new vendors.

Payroll & Financial Support

  • Handle sensitive payroll information, including setting up new starters and confirming bank details.

Ad-hoc Financial Duties

  • Assist with checking the UK VAT return to ensure proper documentation.
  • Take on additional finance tasks as needed, contributing to continuous improvement of financial systems.

Ideal Candidate

Essential Criteria

  • Prior finance experience is highly desirable, especially in:
    • Purchase ledger
    • Accounts payable
    • Payment processing
  • Strong attention to detail, with high accuracy in financial data entry and reconciliation.
  • Highly organised with excellent time management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) for collaboration across teams and suppliers.
  • Willingness to learn, with a proactive and adaptable attitude towards new responsibilities.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience with Xero or other cloud-based accounting systems.
  • Experience with HSBCnet for payments.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel (e.g., sum functions).
  • Basic knowledge of ApprovalMax.
  • Familiarity with other online payment systems and financial controls.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting and multi-currency consolidations.
