Accounts Payable Clerk – Temporary Contract
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a proactive, detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk to join our client’s high-performing finance team within a leading Luton-based construction business.
This is a Temporary Contract focused on supporting ongoing financial operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Key Responsibilities
- Capture all supplier invoices into Sage, accurately matching them against Purchase Orders (POs).
- Perform robust reconciliations of Sage ledger data against supplier statements.
- Actively review open POs and the Aged Payables ledger for outstanding supplier invoices.
- Allocate payments from bank accounts to the correct supplier accounts on Sage.
- Actively manage the AP inbox daily, escalating any supplier invoice disputes to the relevant internal teams for approval and applying credit notes where required.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date supplier records on Sage, and alert the Finance Manager to requests for Direct Debit collections.
- Assist with the completion of ONS surveys and other external financial reports.

What We Are Looking For

- Demonstrable background working as an Accounts Payable Clerk, ideally within a fast-paced environment.
- Broad IT literacy, including intermediate Excel skills. Practical experience using Sage 50 or Navision is highly desirable.
- An AAT qualification (completed or in progress) is considered a distinct advantage.
