Accounts Payable Manager

Kingston | Hybrid | £40,000 to £50,000 + Benefits

We're partnering with a growing and well-established business looking for an Accounts Payable Manager to lead a small team and oversee the day-to-day running of a busy Accounts Payable function.

This is a hands-on role where you'll combine leadership with operational responsibility, ensuring invoices are processed accurately, suppliers are paid on time and the team continues to deliver an exceptional service.

Alongside managing the day-to-day, you'll have the opportunity to improve processes, develop your team and make a genuine impact within a business that continues to invest in its people.

The Role!

As the Accounts Payable Manager, you'll take ownership of the Accounts Payable function, ensuring the team delivers a first-class service to both suppliers and the wider business.

You'll be responsible for:

  • Leading, motivating and developing a small Accounts Payable team.
  • Managing the day-to-day Accounts Payable function to ensure service levels are maintained.
  • Acting as the first point of escalation for supplier queries and payment issues.
  • Reviewing payment runs and approving invoices before final authorisation.
  • Ensuring month-end activities, reconciliations and reporting are completed accurately and on time.
  • Managing company credit card accounts, reconciliations and associated administration.
  • Building strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Conducting regular one-to-one meetings, performance reviews and team meetings.
  • Completing daily bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls and system efficiencies.
  • Supporting the wider finance team with ad hoc projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensuring robust financial controls are maintained to minimise risk and protect the business.

About You

You'll be an experienced Accounts Payable professional who enjoys leading people just as much as delivering operational excellence.

You'll thrive in a fast-paced environment, be highly organised and enjoy improving processes while building strong relationships across the business.

Whether you're currently an Accounts Payable Supervisor, Accounts Payable Team Leader or an experienced Senior Accounts Payable professional ready to step into leadership, we'd love to hear from you.

Wish List

  • Previous experience leading or supervising an Accounts Payable team.
  • Strong knowledge of end-to-end Accounts Payable processes.
  • Experience working within a multi-entity environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Good Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and Lookups.
  • A proactive mindset with a passion for improving processes and supporting others.
