Accounts Payable Supervisor Opportunity

Change Accountancy & Finance is delighted to be partnering with a growing and well-established finance shared services organisation as they look to recruit an Accounts Payable Supervisor into their Glasgow-based team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Accounts Payable professional to step into a leadership role, managing a team within a fast-paced environment while supporting a diverse portfolio of clients.

Role Overview

The Accounts Payable Supervisor will oversee the day-to-day delivery of Accounts Payable services. Managing a team of Accounts Payable Assistants, you will be responsible for ensuring supplier invoices, payments, and reconciliations are completed accurately and on time while maintaining strong controls and service standards.

This role would suit an experienced Accounts Payable professional with previous supervisory experience who enjoys leading teams, improving processes, and building strong relationships with stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of Accounts Payable Assistants, managing workloads, performance, and training requirements.
  • Oversee the end-to-end Accounts Payable function, ensuring accurate invoice processing, VAT treatment, supplier reconciliations, and timely payment runs.
  • Manage month-end and year-end activities, including ledger closures, reconciliations, journal postings, and reporting requirements.
  • Produce and present management information to clients, acting as a key point of contact for operational and financial matters.
  • Drive continuous process improvements, maintain documented procedures, and strengthen financial controls across the AP function.

Candidate Profile

We are keen to speak with experienced Accounts Payable professionals who have previously held a Supervisor, Team Leader, or Senior Accounts Payable position. You will be a strong communicator with the ability to manage competing priorities while motivating and developing a high-performing team.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years' experience within an Accounts Payable or Purchase Ledger environment.
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
  • Strong understanding of Accounts Payable processes, controls, and best practices.
  • Experience managing month-end activities and supplier reconciliations.
  • Good working knowledge of VAT regulations.
  • CIS experience would be advantageous.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, and SUMIF functions.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
