Accounts Receivable Specialist EMEA – Role Overview
Main Purpose
The Accounts Receivable Specialist manages and collects customer payments across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA). This role ensures:
- Invoices and customer accounts are accurate.
- Cash is collected on time.
- Queries are resolved promptly, supporting healthy cash flow and customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Payment Processing & Allocation
- Allocate and match incoming payments to invoices, credit notes, and customer accounts.

Reconciliation & Query Resolution
- Reconcile bank statements and remittance advice against customer ledgers.
- Identify and resolve unmatched items, discrepancies, short/over payments, and account queries.

Credit Control & Follow-Ups
- Proactively follow up on overdue invoices within agreed credit terms.
- Escalate where necessary to expedite collections.

Account Maintenance & Reporting
- Maintain accurate customer account balances with correct allocations and adjustments.
- Monitor and report on customer ageing, highlighting risks to drive improvements.

Month-End Close Support
- Assist with:
- Bank reconciliations
- General ledger and sub-ledger reconciliations
- Intercompany reconciliations and balance confirmations
- Prepare and post journals/GL entries (when required).
- Assist with:

Mailbox & Stakeholder Management
- Manage AR mailboxes with timely, professional responses and clear query ownership.
- Collaborate effectively with:
- Customers
- Sales & Customer Service teams
- Finance & Supply Chain

System & Process Optimization
- Leverage finance/business systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics AX, Excel, Outlook, CRM).
- Identify and implement process improvements for:
- Stronger controls
- Enhanced efficiency
- Better customer experience

Audit Support
- Provide documentation, reconciliations, and explanations for internal/external audits.
Candidate Profile
Preferred/Desired Qualifications
- AAT qualification (or equivalent).
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
Essential Experience & Skills
- Previous experience in accounts receivable, credit control, or finance.
- High attention to detail, focusing on accuracy and control.
- Strong numeracy for high-volume data.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (pivots, lookups, reconciliations).
- Organised with time management skills to handle competing deadlines.
- Clear, professional communication—demonstrated ability to liaise with:
- Customers
- Internal teams (Sales, Customer Service, Finance).
