About the Role
Chalk Hill Group are partnering with a leading accountancy practice, based near Wokingham, in their search for an ambitious and motivated Semi-Senior to join their Outsourcing & Financial Reporting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accountant to gain broad exposure across a varied portfolio of clients, developing strong technical skills across management accounting, statutory reporting, taxation, and outsourced finance functions.
Working closely with experienced accountants and managers, you will support the delivery of high-quality accounting services to a range of businesses, helping clients understand and manage their financial performance while ensuring their compliance obligations are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing monthly and quarterly management accounts for a portfolio of clients
- Assisting with month-end and year-end accounting processes
- Maintaining accurate accounting records and completing bookkeeping tasks where required
- Preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, journals, accruals, and prepayments
- Supporting the preparation of statutory accounts in accordance with relevant accounting standards
- Assisting with corporation tax computations and returns, working alongside senior team members and tax specialists
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns and supporting clients with VAT-related queries
- Supporting clients with outsourced finance requirements, providing timely and accurate financial information
- Assisting with cash flow reporting, financial analysis, and other ad-hoc management information
- Liaising with clients to obtain information and resolve queries in a professional and efficient manner
- Maintaining high standards of accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail across all client work

About You
- Previous experience within an accountancy practice, outsourced accounting environment, or looking for your first role after graduating with an accounting or finance-related degree
- Be actively studying towards AAT, ACA, or ACCA
- A good understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and core accounting principles
- Exposure to preparing accounts, VAT returns, and management information
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to build relationships with clients and colleagues
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
