Accounts Semi Senior (Hybrid Role) – London

Location: Hybrid working with a focus on Central London offices

Industry: Accounting

Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 (dependent on experience and qualifications)


About the Role

We are partnering with a leading independent accountancy practice in Central London, seeking a Semi Senior Accountant to play a pivotal role in delivering accurate, compliant, and timely financial reporting across a diverse client base.

This position is ideal for ACCA or ACA students (finalist/part-qualified) looking to build a rewarding career in a supportive and growth-driven environment, with clear progression opportunities towards full qualification.

The role spans the entire accounting cycle—from month-end closures to financial analysis, advisory, and operational process improvements—while leveraging industry-leading platforms like Xero and Dext.


Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Record Maintenance & Reporting
    • Manage and maintain accurate financial records for multiple clients using Xero and Dext platforms.
    • Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures, including reconciliations, journal entries, and accruals.

  • Financial Statement Preparation & Compliance

    • Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and tax returns in line with UK GAAP and HMRC regulations.
    • Assist with VAT returns, PAYE, and statutory filings, ensuring compliance with deadlines.
  • Client Advisory & Analysis

    • Support clients with financial analysis, cash flow forecasting, and budgeting to inform strategic decision-making.
    • Work with clients, bookkeepers, and external auditors to ensure timely and accurate documentation.
  • Process Improvement & Efficiency

    • Identify and implement process optimisations to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and compliance across accounting workflows.
    • Contribute to audit readiness, including documentation and query resolution.
  • Team Support & Development

    • Mentor junior team members and foster knowledge-sharing within the finance team.

Requirements

Essential Criteria

  • ACCA/ACA student (finalist or part-qualified), with a clear pathway to full qualification.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in accounting or finance within a public practice environment.
  • Strong technical proficiency in:
    • Xero (for full-cycle accounting and multi-client reporting).
    • Dext (for invoice automation, bank reconciliation, and document management).
  • Deep knowledge of UK GAAP, HMRC regulations, and statutory compliance.
  • Excellent attention to detail, time management, and ability to handle multiple deadlines under pressure.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build trusted client relationships.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and office productivity tools.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and adaptable for a fast-paced hybrid environment.
