Senior Accountant

Salary: £32,000 - £42,000 per annum

About Us

We are recruiting for a forward-thinking accountancy and business advisory practice seeking a Senior Accountant to join its experienced accounts team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a nearly qualified or newly qualified accountant looking to develop their career within a supportive and fast-paced practice environment. The role will involve working closely with managers and directors to deliver high-quality accounts, tax and advisory services to a varied client portfolio, including owner-managed businesses.

The position would suit an ambitious and client-focused individual who enjoys building relationships, providing practical advice and supporting the development of junior team members.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare year-end financial statements for a varied portfolio of clients
  • Calculate corporation tax and personal tax liabilities
  • Support clients with tax planning ideas and accounting process improvements
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients
  • Act as a key point of contact for client queries
  • Work closely with managers and directors to deliver a high standard of client service
  • Support the overall delivery of accounts, tax and advisory services
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure clients receive joined-up advice
  • Review and support work prepared by junior team members where required
  • Coach, mentor and develop accounts trainees
  • Assist clients with cloud accounting systems and digital processes
  • Manage deadlines and ensure work is completed accurately and efficiently
  • Develop a strong understanding of clients’ businesses to provide tailored advice

Requirements

  • Nearly ACA or ACCA qualified, or newly qualified
  • Previous experience working within an accountancy practice
  • Strong experience preparing accounts for owner-managed businesses and SMEs
  • Good understanding of corporation tax and personal tax compliance
  • Comfortable working directly with clients and building long-term relationships
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to support and develop junior members of staff
  • Good organisational skills and ability to manage deadlines
  • Tech-savvy with experience using accounting software and cloud systems
  • Knowledge of CCH would be advantageous
  • Positive, proactive and collaborative approach
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering excellent client service
