Accounts Senior – Manchester, Permanent, Full Time

About the Role

We are TC Group, the fastest-growing top 20 accountancy firm in the UK. As business advisors and accountants with over 30 years of experience, we provide a wide range of bespoke support and advice for ambitious business owners. Due to our growth, we now have an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Senior within our Manchester office.

This vital role will involve leading accountancy services for existing clients, managing workflow, and training junior team members. It is ideal for someone looking to progress their career in a forward-thinking, supportive environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Portfolio management:
    • Deliver end-to-end accountancy services for clients.
    • Build and maintain trusted client relationships through regular engagement (calls, face-to-face, virtual meetings).
  • Sales and service expansion:
    • Identify opportunities to sell new services to existing clients.
    • Collaborate with marketing teams to support pitches, campaigns, and articles.
  • Workflow and process management:
    • Oversee work planning, allocation, and review.
    • Proactively introduce best practices to improve efficiency and reduce risks.
  • Team supervision & development:
    • Train colleagues on processes and technical accountancy matters.
    • Adopt a hands-on approach where needed to support deliveries.
  • Risk and compliance:
    • Identify and mitigate risks for both the firm and clients.
    • Ensure adherence to industry standards and compliance benchmarks.

Requirements

Essential:

  • Qualified (ACA or ACCA).
  • Minimum 2-3 years’ Post-Qualification Experience (PQE) or 5+ years’ experience operating as an Accounts Senior (QBE) in practice.
  • Proficient in CCH/Xero (or willing to learn quickly).
  • Strong understanding of practice accounting.
  • Excellent communication skills, suited for frequent client contact (telephone, in-person).
  • Thrive in an environment requiring organisation, diligence, and timely updates for clients.
  • Developing interest in sector software (e.g., cloud accounting).

Desirable (but not essential):

  • Experience with residential service charge accounts.
  • Ability to host year-end or management accounting meetings.
  • Experience delivering an outsourced finance service, e.g., client presentations, commentary, and query resolution.
  • Familiarity with Fathom software.
