Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Practice Accountant to join our friendly and growing accountancy practice in Stratford upon Avon. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with recent accountancy practice experience who enjoys working with a varied portfolio of clients, building strong client relationships, and providing high quality accounting and tax services.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing accounts, tax returns and VAT returns, advising clients on day to day accounting matters, and supporting them with their financial reporting requirements. Previous experience working within an accountancy practice is essential.
Duties
- Prepare year end statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships and limited companies.
- Prepare corporation tax, self assessment and partnership tax returns.
- Prepare and review VAT returns and advise clients on VAT matters.
- Assist clients with management accounts and financial reporting where required.
- Liaise directly with clients to provide professional advice and ensure an excellent level of service.
- Correspond with HMRC on behalf of clients.
- Support clients with general accounting, tax and compliance queries.
- Maintain accurate client records and ensure work is completed to a high standard and within agreed deadlines.
- Work collaboratively with the practice team to deliver an efficient and professional service.

Requirements

- Recent experience working within a UK accountancy practice is essential.
- AAT qualified, ACA/ACCA qualified or part qualified, or qualified by experience (QBE).
- Good working knowledge of accounts preparation, VAT and taxation.
- Strong communication and client relationship skills.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Experience using cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks and Sage is advantageous.
