Accounts Senior / Accounts Assistant | £30,000 - £40,000 | Full-Time | Office-Based - Bradford

We’re partnering with a growing independent accountancy practice based in Bradford that has recently undergone exciting changes, including new leadership and a move to modern offices. They’re now looking for an Accounts Senior / Accounts Assistant to:

  • Support the team
  • Take ownership of client work
  • Help develop junior staff

Key Responsibilities

  • Client & Team Support:

    • Manage your own portfolio while working closely with both clients and colleagues
  • Client Management:

    • Handling a diverse range of SME clients across various sectors
  • Year-End Accounts:

    • Preparing financial accounts for limited companies

  • Tax Work:

    • Processing personal tax returns (for directors)
    • Handling corporation tax returns
  • Bookkeeping:

    • Assisting clients with day-to-day financial management
  • Training & Mentorship:

    • Supporting and developing the skills of junior team members
  • Client Interaction:

    • Building and maintaining long-term, reliable client relationships

This is a hands-on, client-facing role offering real responsibility and variety.


What We’re Looking For

  • Practice experience: Around 5 years in a public practice setting
  • Qualifications or accreditation: AAT qualification (QBE considered if AAT not available)
  • Technical experience:
    • Confident in preparing year-end accounts and tax returns
  • Client management skills:
    • Capable of managing expectations and maintaining long-term client bonds
  • Soft skills:
    • Strong communication abilities
    • A team-focused mindset
  • Software experience:
    • Proficient in Xero, Sage, or comparable accounting software (Dext a plus)
    • CIS experience is advantageous but not essential

Location: Bradford (office-based) Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 (dependent on experience) Hours: 35-hour week with weekly early Friday finishes Start date: ASAP
