Job Description

ALF Recruit is delighted to be partnering exclusively with a well-established, independent accountancy practice near Bury to recruit an Accounts Team Manager into a key leadership role within the firm.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced practice professional who’s ready to lead. You’ll take ownership of a portfolio and a team, playing a central role in the day-to-day running of the accounts function while helping to develop the people around you. It’s a firm that genuinely looks after its staff and the working pattern reflects that.

What you’ll get

  • £50,000 – £60,000 depending on experience
  • One day a week working from home

What you’ll be doing

  • Managing and developing a team, overseeing workflow and quality
  • Owning a portfolio of clients and acting as their key point of contact
  • Reviewing accounts, and overseeing the delivery of accounts, VAT and management information
  • Supporting, mentoring and developing junior members of the team
  • Working closely with the partners on the running of the practice

What we’re looking for

  • A qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA), though a strong qualified-by-experience candidate will always be considered
  • Solid practice experience, with the confidence to lead a team
  • Strong technical grounding across accounts, VAT and general compliance
  • A natural people-manager who enjoys developing others
  • Someone who values being part of a close-knit, independent firm rather than a corporate machine
