Your New Company
Hays are working with a well-established organisation based in Gloucestershire who are looking for an experienced Accounts Technician to join their finance team on a temporary basis from mid-August through to the end of November. This is a part-time position working 20 hours per week initially, with the opportunity for hours to increase during October and November to support year-end and audit requirements. The role is predominantly office-based, although some hybrid flexibility may be available.
Your New Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will provide support across a broad range of accounting duties, with a particular focus on year-end preparation and audit support.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Maintaining purchase and sales ledger activities
- Performing bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Assisting with month-end and year-end processes
- Preparing and posting journals, accruals and prepayments
- Supporting the preparation of year-end accounts and audit schedules
- Producing and maintaining accurate financial records
- Assisting with budget monitoring and financial reporting
- Investigating and resolving finance queries
- Supporting the wider finance team with ad hoc accounting duties
- Assisting throughout the audit process, providing relevant information and documentation as required

What You'll Need to Succeed
- AAT Level 4 qualified (or equivalent experience)
- Previous experience working in a varied accounting or finance role
- Strong understanding of journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
- Experience supporting year-end accounts preparation and audit processes
- Good attention to detail and organisation skills
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a finance team
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
