Job Title: Accredited Financial Investigator
Salary: £45,624 - £52,038 per annum
Grade: F
Contract Type: Permanent
Working Hours: 37 hours per week
About the Department
Thurrock Council is serious about tackling fraud committed against the authority and the wider public sector ensuring that public money is safeguarded.
The Counter Fraud Investigation Team works with Thurrock and Castle Point Council and the various departments contained within.
The team is looking for an experienced accredited financial investigations practitioner with a background in local authority fraud investigation. Our responsibilities mean that our operational officers are expected to be confident in delivering criminal enquiries using their knowledge and experience to apply the best tools and strategies to deal with them, including though partnership working.
About the Role
As a key member of the team, you will have experience in crime affecting the public sector. The service is a 24/7 function, and you will be expected to work unsociable hours where necessary, to achieve our objectives.
You will be a well-respected practitioner in criminal investigation with demonstrable success of applying innovation and best practice to crime problems.
The position is available within the Counter Fraud Team and we are seeking those that have experience within investigation of criminality within a Local Authority setting.
You must have investigative experience from a recognised law enforcement agency such as the Police Service, NCA, HMRC or equivalent.
Essential qualifications:
- Accredited to PIP 2/3 (or equivalent law enforcement agency qualification).
- Current & ‘live’ National Crime Agency accreditation as an Accredited Financial Investigator.
- Ability to obtain and maintain national security clearance to a minimum of SC level and NPPV3
- DBS Check: Not required
