About the Role: Electrical Hardware Design Engineering
Drive innovation in automation by developing, detailing, and supporting control system designs for high-profile industrial clients. This role presents an exciting opportunity to work on projects spanning manufacturing, energy, and infrastructure sectors as part of a thriving engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery & Technical Design
- Design electrical hardware solutions, including control panels, motor control centers (MCCs), and system layouts, aligned with client specifications and industry standards.
- Create electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, bills of materials, cable schedules, and layout drawings using CAD software.
- Collaborate with project managers, software engineers, and site teams to ensure efficient project integration and execution.
- Select and specify appropriate electrical components, balancing safety, functionality, and cost considerations.
- Conduct site surveys and technical assessments to guide design development.

Compliance & Workplace Involvement
- Ensure all designs adhere to health & safety regulations, British & international standards (e.g., BS7671, EN60204-1), and company processes.
- Support workshop build activities, panel testing, and commissioning phases as needed.
Communication & Problem-Solving
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and client meetings, delivering clear technical briefings.
- Assist in troubleshooting and modifications during manufacturing and installation phases.
Requirements & Qualifications
Experience & Technical Skills
- Proven experience in electrical hardware design within industrial automation, process control, or manufacturing.
- Competent in EPlan (essential), with familiarity in AutoCAD a plus.
- Deep knowledge of electrical protection, circuit design, and industrial control systems (e.g., PLCs, SCADA, and automation equipment).
- Understanding of BS7671 and EN60204-1 or equivalent electrical standards.
- Higher National Certificate/Diploma (HNC/HND), degree in Electrical/Control Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.
