Hardware Manager
Peterborough (site & workshop based) | Full-time

Actemium Automation Peterborough (part of VINCI Energies) is seeking an experienced Hardware Manager to lead our hardware engineering and panel build function. You’ll be responsible for the delivery, quality and continuous improvement of control panels and electrical assemblies across industrial automation, process control and utilities projects.
This role combines hands-on technical expertise with team leadership, supplier management and strong quality governance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of control panels, switchgear and electrical assemblies
- Manage workshop production planning, resources and schedules (in-house and third-party)
- Ensure build quality meets drawings, specifications and client requirements
- Lead, coach and develop panel builders, technicians and test engineers
- Define and oversee FATs, testing procedures and quality inspections
- Ensure compliance with BS/EN/IEC standards, CE marking and electrical safety requirements
- Review and approve hardware designs, wiring diagrams and component selection
- Manage suppliers and subcontractors to meet cost, quality and lead-time targets
- Drive continuous improvement, lean practices and strong H&S culture

Essential
Key Requirements
- Proven experience managing panel build or hardware production teams
- Strong knowledge of control panels, electrical wiring and testing regimes
- Experience with FATs, commissioning support and technical documentation
- Solid understanding of relevant standards and electrical regulations
- Strong leadership, planning and organisational skills
- Full UK driving licence

- Background within VINCI Energies or similar engineering organisations
- Electrical qualifications (Apprenticeship, HNC/HND)
- Knowledge of PLC platforms, industrial networks or procurement processes
