Business Development Manager – Automation & Engineering Services

Actemium Automation Teesside

Location: Billingham, Teesside (with travel to client sites and occasional travel to Worksop)

Package: Competitive salary (Up to £70,000 p.a. DOE) + Bonus + Pension + Healthcare + Share Scheme + EV Car Scheme

Actemium Automation Teesside delivers automation, control systems and engineering solutions across the chemical, pharmaceutical, life sciences, power and renewable energy sectors. We are also expanding into emerging energy markets, including hydrogen and sustainable aviation fuels, while growing our materials handling capability.

The Role

We are looking for a commercially focused Business Development Manager to drive growth by identifying new opportunities, building client relationships and developing a strong sales pipeline.

Working closely with senior leadership and delivery teams, you will support bids and proposals, develop market awareness, and help secure new business across our target sectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, qualify and develop new business opportunities.
  • Build and manage a strong sales pipeline using CRM tools.
  • Develop client relationships and act as a trusted commercial contact.
  • Support the preparation of proposals, tenders and presentations.
  • Contribute to pricing, commercial negotiations and bid strategies.
  • Deliver targeted marketing and networking activities to generate leads.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activity to identify growth opportunities.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in business development, sales or commercial roles within engineering, automation, industrial services or similar sectors.
  • Proven ability to generate leads and develop new business opportunities.
  • Strong commercial awareness and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience supporting proposals, quotations or tender submissions.
  • Confident using CRM systems, LinkedIn and digital engagement tools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Full UK driving licence.
