Control Systems Engineer – Actemium Automation Teesside

About The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Control Systems Engineer with strong DCS expertise—ideally in Siemens PCS 7 or Rockwell PlantPAx—to support project delivery, technical development, and customer success across our automation portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and implement DCS systems (PCS 7 / PlantPAx) for industrial process automation projects.
- Produce technical documents: I/O lists, control philosophies, specifications, and FDS/SDS.
- Develop, test, and commission PCS 7 / PlantPAx solutions both onsite and remotely.
- Provide client-facing technical support, advice, and training throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work collaboratively with engineering, SHEQ, and project management teams to ensure safe, compliant delivery.
- Support system upgrades, troubleshooting, obsolescence strategies, and ongoing DCS optimisation.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in engineering standards and digital automation practices.

Candidate Profile
- Strong hands-on experience with PCS 7 or PlantPAx (essential).
- Background in control systems engineering, process automation, or systems integration.
- Approx. 3+ years in design, configuration, and commissioning within process industries (chemicals, energy, pharma, FMCG, etc.).
- Understanding of instrumentation, SCADA/HMI, industrial networks, and safety systems.
- Knowledge of EC&I engineering deliverables and lifecycle documentation.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
- Relevant engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree).
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel.
Desirable
- Experience with multiple control system vendors.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD and panel design principles.
- Understanding of functional safety (SIL) and quality frameworks (e.g., GAMP 5).
- Awareness of OT networking and cybersecurity principles.

Working Environment
Based at Actemium Automation Teesside with travel to client sites for commissioning and support. You’ll work within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team delivering varied automation projects within a positive safety culture. All required PPE and workwear are provided.
