Acting Team Leader & Support Worker – Woodrow House

About the Role
We’re looking for a confident, passionate Acting Team Leader based at Woodrow House, a specialist residential service supporting adults with learning disabilities and challenging behaviours. You’ll work full-time (42 hours/week), including 12-hour shifts, alternate weekends (four shifts Week 1, three shifts Week 2 on a two-week rolling rota), operating days only.
Your responsibilities will vary between:
- Support Work – hands-on care and empowerment.
- Acting Team Leader shifts – duty allocation, medication administration, team leadership and management support.
Responsibilities
As an Acting Team Leader
- Medication administration
- Allocate duties to the team
- Demonstrate best practice in care delivery
- Support both management and frontline staff, ensuring consistent, person-centred care
- Lead the team while upholding the wellbeing and needs of residents
As a Support Worker
- Provide enhanced care with a flexible, individualised approach
- Offer physical and emotional support to empower independence
- Tailor support based on residents’ specific needs and report on medical/wellbeing matters
- Safeguard and maintain a safe, clean environment
- Facilitate community engagement, including work, education, hobbies, and outings
- Encourage growth through activities like cooking, cleaning, and life skills training

Person Specification
You’ll be:
- An experienced Support Worker eager to take on leadership
- Driven to make a tangible difference in people’s lives
- Confident, assertive and ambitious—for yourself, your team, and Cygnet
- A strong communicator & team player with a sensitive, intuitive approach
- Skilled at empowering autonomy while creating a trusting, engaging environment
- Organised, committed, and keen to develop leadership skills

- Acting Team Leader rate: £15.39/hr (base salary £29,435.70 YoY), rising to £13.70/hr after 18 months
- Support Worker rate: £13.15/hr (rising to £13.45/hr after 3 months)
