Activations Manager

Event Manager (Permanent Full-Time) – Medlock Square, Manchester

Based in Manchester, this permanent full-time role involves leading the planning and delivery of a year-round calendar of events and activations across Medlock Square, driving footfall, visitor engagement, and commercial performance. This is a unique opportunity to shape a destination masterplan from the ground up, creating captivating experiences that redefine the Etihad Campus as Manchester’s next must-visit leisure and entertainment hub.

The Role

You will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of a high-impact events and activations calendar across Medlock Square, ensuring:

  • A memorable, destination-led experience that boosts footfall and visitor engagement.
  • Collaboration with the Head of Marketing & Activations to deliver a year-round programme.
  • Safety, efficiency, and excellence in every event—from introverted brand collaborations to mass-scale experiences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Event Leadership:

    • Propose, develop, and deliver a year-round calendar of engaging events and activations across bars, restaurants, and public spaces, including the new 3,000-capacity covered event venue.
    • Focus on non-matchday growth, ensuring Medlock Square is relevant beyond football season.
  • Cross-Portfolio Coordination:

    • Work closely with third-party brands, partners, community organisations, and suppliers to curate a diverse, left-field event programme.
    • Oversee operational logistics, vendor management, stakeholder engagement, and on-site delivery, ensuring seamless execution.
  • Revenue & Partnership Growth:

    • Identify new opportunities for collaborations, experiences, and monetisation strategies.
    • Shape an ambitious, sustainable programme that fosters repeat visits and commercial success.

What You’ll Bring

Essential:

  • Proven experience in planning and delivering small- to large-scale events, ideally in an events agency setting or high-turnover venue.
  • Budget management skills, including expertise in coordinating with event agencies, production partners, and suppliers.
  • Strong project management, operational planning, and problem-solving to manage multiple high-risk projects under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to coordinate logistics, supplier relationships, and on-site execution with flawless precision.
  • Commercial acumen to spot and propose revenue-driving initiatives.

Nice to have:

  • Public-private or venue experience—you know how to think like an events director for a new destination.
  • A proactive, hands-on mindset with flexibility to support events during off-hours.
  • Brand-buildingmomentum: passion for creating iconic, shareable experiences that transcend their category.
