Senior Events and Activations Manager
Location: Manchester
Type: Permanent, Full-time
About the Role
This permanent, full-time role is based in Manchester and leads the planning and delivery of a year-round calendar of events and activations across Medlock Square. These events are central to:
- Generating footfall
- Improving visitor engagement
- Driving commercial performance
Your role will involve proposing, shaping, and producing destination-led events across businesses such as bars, restaurants, and event spaces, including the new 3,000-capacity covered event space. The aim is to create memorable experiences that enhance Medlock Square—especially on non-matchdays—to establish it as a vibrant leisure and entertainment hub.

The Role
You will lead the planning, coordination, and operational execution of a dynamic year-round event calendar, ensuring all activities are delivered to drive:
- Footfall growth
- Visitor engagement
- Commercial performance
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and delivering events across Medlock Square’s bars, restaurants, and public spaces
- Collaborating closely with the Head of Marketing and Activations to shape the year-round venue programme
- Managing all event planning, logistics, suppliers, and on-site coordination to ensure safe, efficient, and premium delivery
- Building strong third-party partnerships, brand collaborations, and community connections to curate a diverse and impactful programme
- Increasing non-matchday visitation and ensuring Medlock Square remains a vibrant, must-visit destination
- Identifying new partnerships, revenue-generating activation opportunities, and innovative experiences

What You’ll Bring
This role requires a proven track record in event planning, execution, and relationship management, ideally from an events agency background. Key strengths include:
✅ Experience in planning and delivering small-to-large-scale events (concept to completion) ✅ Knowledge of event budget management, negotiating third-party agency agreements, and supplier contracts ✅ Strong project management and operational planning skills to maintain high standards under tight deadlines ✅ Ability to organise event logistics, manage vendors, and coordinate live operations effectively ✅ Capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment, prioritise tasks under multiple deadlines ✅ Proven partner and brand engagement to craft engaging activations ✅ Commercial acumen with the ability to pitch and develop innovative revenue-generating opportunities ✅ Flexibility and proactive approach, including support of events outside regular working hours when necessary
