Job Description
Custody Activity Facilitator
Salary: £28,755 pa plus benefits
Location: HMP Drake Hall (Stafford)
Contract: Permanent
Rebuilding your life after a custodial sentence is one of the toughest challenges a person can face. But with the right support, it’s possible. We’re looking for a dedicated In Custody Facilitator to join our team - someone with a rare mix of compassion, resilience, organisation, and flexibility. This is for the person who understands that rehabilitation isn't just about offering advice; it’s about rolling up your sleeves and pro-actively supporting someone on their journey.
About the Role
You’ll work within the prison delivering courses to groups of participants to support them on their journey towards release. They are designed to be short, sharp, and impactful, so your ability to quickly build positive connections will be an important part of the role. You will work with Support Workers and Peer Mentors to deliver a comprehensive support package for their last 12 weeks of custody - as a key member of this dedicated team, you’ll help individuals overcome barriers, build confidence, and take meaningful steps toward rehabilitation.
This is a demanding yet deeply rewarding role. You'll be working in a challenging environment with individuals who have complex needs and may be hesitant to engage. However, when you help someone break the cycle and take real steps toward transforming their life, the impact is truly life-changing—for them and for you.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
