Activity Manager – Edinburgh, UK

Shape the Future of Manufacturing Excellence
We’re seeking an experienced and driven Activity Manager to lead a high-performing manufacturing cell in Glasgow. This is your chance to inspire teams, drive operational excellence, and shape world-class manufacturing standards.
As Activity Manager, you’ll take full ownership of day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensuring:
- Performance targets are met
- Processes are continuously optimised
- Teams are empowered, developed, and motivated
- Cross-functional collaboration delivers operational excellence
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Environment
- Champion a strong safety culture, prioritising team wellbeing
- Lead all HSE activities, including:
- Risk assessments and reporting
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) compliance
- Mandatory training and health surveillance
- Encourage proactive hazard identification and reporting across your team
Quality Assurance
- Ensure full compliance with Thales standards and procedures (Chorus)
- Ownership of quality control within your area
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement

Production & Performance
- Plan and execute work schedules aligned with Master Production Schedule and customer demands
- Monitor and report daily performance, keeping teams engaged with KPIs
- Promote and embed Lean principles and a culture of continuous improvement (CI)
- Escalate and resolve production issues, implementing corrective actions as needed
Leadership & People Management
- Lead, coach, and motivate your team to deliver excellence
- Support training, cross-skilling, and workforce planning for flexibility
- Manage daily people matters, including performance, absence, and shift planning
- Drive an inclusive culture aligned with Thales’ Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) values
- Support recruitment and onboarding to meet operational needs
What We’re Looking For
You bring: ✔ Proven experience leading teams in a manufacturing or production environment ✔ A strong understanding of HSE, quality standards, and operational KPIs ✔ A passion for continuous improvement, Lean manufacturing, and team development ✔ Outstanding communication and leadership skills—you inspire and influence others ✔ A proactive, solution-focused mindset
