Actuarial Reporting and Capital Transformation Project Actuary
Hybrid working with up to 4 days per week working from home
Angel Court, London or Staines
18-month fixed term contract
Salary £57,100 - £71,300 Per Annum Dependent Upon Experience
Full time 37.5 hours per week

We’re Looking To Appoint An Actuarial Reporting And Capital Transformation Project Actuary To Join The Transformation Team Who Will Help With The Following
- Support the Head Of Actuarial Transformation in building and embedding of the BGIUK Actuarial Transformation Programme in the reporting and capital areas from a technical point of view.
- Support reporting and capital transformation review and implement recommendations that are identified.
- Identify areas for automation and streamlining in reporting and capital processes, including options for utilising BUPAs Capability Centres (BCC).
- Build up strong relationships with the existing reporting and capital teams, to support embedding of change.
- Support roll out of a model governance framework and documentation.
- Build up an understanding of actuarial processes to support the business beyond transformation.
Accountabilities & Activities
How You’ll Help Us Make Health Happen
Support the Head of Actuarial Transformation to deliver the Actuarial Foundation and Commercial Analytics pillars, achieving the following benefits:
- Support reviews of reporting, and capital processes, with the aim of improving analytics and speed of implementation, through our new platform using SQL and Python.
- Support reviews of reporting and capital processes, with the aim of improving the speed of outputs to the business.
- Identify options that could enable efficiency through BCC.
- Implement key changes identified alongside the Head of Actuarial Transformation in reporting and capital process areas such as the Actuarial Function Report and the creation of the Solvency II Technical Provisions.
- Keep governance and documentation of processes front of mind and embed them with all processes and users.
- Identify and lead resources as required to deliver transformation.
- Improve ways of working for actuarial talent across Bupa by developing cross-business frameworks to connect actuarial teams.
- Enhance actuarial processes by systemising regular tasks, reducing risk and the need for manual intervention.
- Investigate the uses, capabilities, and future of current actuarial modelling platforms, including AI opportunities.
- Enable the business to enhance forward-looking advanced analytics and adopt a more proactive approach to actuarial management.
- Embed Actuarial Month-End data into the reporting, and capital processes.
- Engage with key stakeholders in the Market Unit to ensure the delivery meets the business needs and promotes enablement within the actuarial community.
- Develop a clear understanding of the BGIUK Actuarial teams to support the business as transformation becomes business as usual.
- To provide broader support to the Technical Actuarial team to enhance process optimisation, culture, governance and ways of working.
- Report status, key decisions and challenges to the Head of Actuarial Transformation in a timely and appropriate manner.

Key Skills / Qualifications Needed For This Role
The role holder is expected to have the following experience and qualification/s:
- Qualified actuary and/or equivalent level of actuarial experience (recommended 5 years).
- Experience of SQL and Python in an actuarial space.
- Experience of Capability Centre use.
- Experience of transformation within the Actuarial field.
- Experience of making change happen (ideas into actions into results).
- A proactive mindset, challenging requirements, seeing things from a customer angle and exploring new directions from results of analyses.
- Experience of reserving and designing reserving methodologies for new and existing insurance products.
- Experience of commercial decision making.
- Understanding of Solvency/Capital requirements.
- Understanding of the actuarial forecasting process and techniques.
- Excellent planning and organisational skills and project management experience.
- Ability to work with ambiguity and uncertainty – often driven by incomplete/uncertain data.
- Strong communication and influencing skills and experience in presenting complex issues simply and clearly.
- Excellent in presenting all types of information including complex data and strategic recommendations at all levels of an organisation.
- Proven success in influencing and driving change in the business.
- Strategic thinking and creative problem solving.
- Experience of managing a specialist team with a mixture of actuarial and non-actuarial personnel.
- Experience of managing a demanding workload and tight deadlines.
