Location: Bedford College – Cauldwell Street Campus
Salary/Benefits:
- £30,915 – £41,085 per annum (DOE)

About the Role
The Bedford College Group is seeking an Additional Learning Support Coordinator for our Foundation Learning and Additional Learning Support department.
Core Responsibilities:
EHCP Coordination & Learner Outcomes
- Act as key worker for EHCP learners
- Coordinate assessments, planning, delivery, and reviews to ensure Section F compliance
- Support strong progress and positive progression outcomes
SEND Assessment, Support & Intervention
- Conduct SEND/EHCP assessments
- Develop and review Individual Support Plans
- Deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group interventions to support learning, wellbeing, and independence
Line Management & Deployment of LSPs
- Line manage and deploy Learning Support Practitioners
- Manage timetabling, performance, cover arrangements, and professional development
- Ensure effective, needs-led support is delivered
Collaboration, Communication & Transition
- Work closely with:
- Curriculum staff
- Parents/carers
- Local Authorities
- External agencies
- Support smooth transitions and annual reviews
- Maintain clear communication regarding learner progress and support

About You
Qualifications & Professional Development:
- GCSE English and Maths (grades A–C/Level 2)
- Level 3 qualification or equivalent
- Commitment to progressing toward specialist qualifications such as ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) or SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities)
- Willingness to work toward a Level 5 leadership or SEND-related qualification
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Strong understanding of:
- SEND Code of Practice
- Post-16 education pathways
- Safeguarding policies
- Equality regulations and confidentiality
- Experience supporting learners with SEND in an FE (Further Education) setting
Key Competencies:
- Deep expertise in one-to-one learner support
- Ability to uphold professional boundaries
- Proficiency in producing high-quality reports
- Effective communication skills with:
- Students
- Families
- College staff
- External agencies
Organisational & Professional Attributes:
- Highly organised with strong IT and administrative skills
- Excellent record-keeping abilities
- Ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines
