Job Title: Administration Assistant
Location: Penny Tree School, Birmingham, B30 3ES
Hours: 25 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 8.00am – 1.00pm
Salary: £14,773.75 per annum (not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: October 2026

At Penny Tree School, we're looking for an enthusiastic Administration Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team. As the first point of contact for many parents, visitors and professionals, you'll play a vital role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the school while helping create a welcoming environment where pupils can thrive.
This is more than an administration role—it's an opportunity to become an important part of a specialist school community, supporting staff, pupils and families while making a real difference every day.
What You'll Be Doing
- Provide high-quality administrative support to the Office Manager and wider school team.
- Help ensure the efficient day-to-day running of the school office.
- Maintain accurate, confidential pupil and staff records in line with GDPR requirements.
- Respond professionally to telephone calls, emails and visitors, creating a warm and welcoming first impression.
- Liaise with parents, carers, professionals and external agencies, building positive relationships.
- Prioritise and manage a varied workload, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time.
- Support school administration, reporting and general office processes.
- Contribute positively to the wider life of the school and support the school's values and ethos.

What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who is:
- Experienced in an administrative or office-based role (desirable but not essential).
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
- Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A confident communicator with excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Professional, approachable and able to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Comfortable working independently as well as part of a supportive team.
- Proactive, flexible and willing to take ownership of tasks and projects.
- Willing to work towards an NVQ qualification while in post.
Desirable:
- GCSEs (Grade 4/C or above) in English and Maths, or equivalent.
- Previous experience working within an education or school environment.

Our new Options Autism school – Penny Tree – will have capacity for up to 100 pupils and is expected to open for students in the near future.
