Administration Officer – HMP Winchester
Location: HMP Winchester, Romsey Rd, Winchester, SO22 5DF Salary: £32,353.57 per annum (includes £3,500 location bonus per annum) Contract: Full Time – Permanent – 39hrs per week (Mon–Fri)

We are seeking a dedicated Administration Officer to join our team at HMP Winchester, a Category B, adult, male prison.

HMP Winchester operates like a self-contained city, requiring hundreds of professionals to maintain its functionality. As part of the Facilities Maintenance Team, we are committed to ensuring the smooth and safe operation—think of us as the heart of a system, impacting every prisoner, employee, visitor, and the wider community.
As an Administration Officer, you’ll collaborate with a diverse team comprising plumbers, electricians, carpenters, painters, cleaners, and administrators, all united by a shared dedication to positive change, rehabilitation, and security.

Responsibilities
We are seeking an Administration Officer with a mix of skills, including (but not limited to):
- Experience in using varied IT systems, including Commissioning Asset and Facilities Management (CAFM)
- Administrative experience in a busy office environment
- Ability to work independently without supervision
- Comprehensive knowledge of IT systems
- Up-to-date First Aid qualification
- The mindset to join a purpose-driven team dedicated to rehabilitation and positive change
Requirements
- Demonstrated ability in office administration within a high-pressure environment
- Proficiency in CAFM or similar IT systems
- Hold a valid First Aid certificate (preferably to first aid at work standard)
- Ability to work collaboratively within a diverse team
- Commitment to safety, security, and rehabilitation as core values

Future Plans
GFSL has been informed by its shareholder (MOJ) that the provision of Facilities Management (FM) services will, in future, be transferred to the private sector. This process will conclude no later than August 2027 upon completion of a successful procurement process.
